Product detailed description
Remote-controlled advanced tank model kit, realistically functional model.
The Leopard 2A7V is one of the most modern battle tanks in the world and is used by many countries. The V stands for "improved" or more precisely in German "verbessert". The improvements over the previous version are significant: Better visibility thanks to the use of modern optics and camera systems. Greater firepower thanks to the 120 mm cannon. The communication system has been improved and a battle management system (BMS) is used. The chassis has also been reinforced with an additional protection module and additional armor at the front better protects the tank from armor-piercing ammunition. The original weighs an impressive 63.9 tons and is powered by a 1500 horsepower engine.
TAMIYA has also prepared an improved version of the Leopard in 1/16 scale. Here too, the electronics have been completely redesigned and the model has been extensively revised compared to its predecessor, the Tamiya 56020 Leopard 2A6). The result is a real highlight. Whether it is the details of the model or the functions, it sets new standards in this area of model making. All functions can be controlled using the Tamiya DMD T-12 multifunctional unit using only a 4-channel transmitter. For example, the steering functions, turret rotation, lighting functions, sounds and also the combination of sound, movement and light when firing the cannon.

The typical appearance of the Leopard 2 A7V tank with the 120 mm L/55 cannon is faithfully captured in the kit based on extensive research into the real tank. Like the full-size tank, this model has independent all-wheel suspension with torsion bars for excellent mobility. The suspension arms are die-cast metal (unlike the plastic ones in the Tamiya 56020 1/16 R/C Leopard 2 A6 kit) for higher quality and reliability.
- Pre-assembled tracks have rubber pads inserted.
- The gun barrel is aluminum and the chassis is ABS plastic.
- The new Tamiya DMD T-12 control unit provides a gun barrel control system (this system controls the gun elevation and turret direction, while keeping the gun pointed in one direction) and volume adjustment via transmitter, which was not possible for item 56020.
- The control unit uses 4 channels to control forward/reverse, sharp and rotary movement at any speed. It is also possible to control the gun elevation, recoil and turret rotation. Engine sounds are synchronized with the model's speed, while firing of the main gun and machine gun is realistically accompanied by lights and sounds (facilitated by the multifunctional DMD unit).
- The DMD control unit and battery pack are installed inside the turret. The top of the turret is attached with pins and allows for easy battery replacement. A magnetically attached hatch at the rear of the turret also allows quick access to the power and adjustment switches.
- Comes with 540 type motors (x2, drive), 130 type motor (x1, turret rotation), TSU-03 servo (x1, gun elevation) and 130 type motor (x1, recoil).
- Compatible with item 53447 (Tamiya Combat System for 1/16 Scale Tanks) to enter combat mode.
