Product detailed description

Very fast-curing, high-strength, two-component epoxy adhesive, resistant to fuels and vibrations; easy to sand once fully cured. Will not become brittle with age.

Properties

  • Mixing ratio of components: 1:1 (by volume and by weight)
  • Initial color: clear opalescent to slightly yellow
  • Final color: slightly yellow
  • Working time (until gelation): 4-6 min (18°C to 27°C)
  • The bonded parts can be manipulated: after 30 min
  • Full curing: 16 h
  • Gap filling capacity: max. 6 mm
  • Hardness (Shore, D): 75-83 (after full cure)
  • Shear strength (on steel): 8270kPa (±20%)
  • Shear strength (on aluminum): 3790 kPa (±20%)
  • Temperature resistance of the glued joint: -40°C to +80°C

Packaging: double dispenser (syringe) 28 g (1/2 P+T).

Removing excess uncured glue: rag or paper towel moistened with denatured alcohol.

Thinning the glue: thinner for epoxy varnishes S6300 (using thinners extends the curing time and reduces the final strength of the joint - if you need a "thinner" epoxy, use a laminating or finishing epoxy with a lower viscosity).

Use as a sealant, suitable fillers: microballoons, talc, baby powder, diatomaceous earth, fine balsa or linden sawdust, chopped glass fibers. Attention - the addition of filler can shorten the working time by up to 25% and (depending on the type and amount of filler used) can reduce the strength of the joint.

Suitable for bonding: soft and hard wood, chipboard, plywood, metals, polystyrene foam, ceramics, porcelain, glass and carbon laminates, glass and carbon fabrics and fibers.

Not suitable for bonding: soft and flexible plastics (including EPP and EPO), polyethylene, Teflon.

Storage: in tightly closed packaging, in a cool, dry and dark place. Do not expose to temperatures below 5°C. Be careful not to mix up the resin and hardener caps - even a small amount of hardener can spoil a large amount of resin.

Shelf life: If the conditions of proper storage are observed, the manufacturer guarantees a shelf life of 1 year while maintaining the stated product properties. Practical experience shows that ZAP epoxies, when stored properly, maintain their excellent properties for many years (see also Note 2) - if you buy a package of glue appropriate to your consumption, you practically do not have to "deal" with its lifespan at all.

Note 1: The curing of the glue depends primarily on the ambient temperature; if you mix a larger amount of epoxy at once (typically more than 20-30 g), its curing can occur much faster - to maintain a longer working time, it is necessary to cool the glue, e.g. in a water bath. This is due to the fact that heat is released during the reaction of the resin and hardener, and at the same time, it is true that the resin cures faster at higher room temperature. And since the mass of the resin (and thus the amount of heat generated) increases faster with increasing volume than the size of the external surface from which the heat is dissipated to the environment, a larger amount of resin heats up and cures faster. Don't believe it? Believe it! A cube with a side of 1 cm has a volume of 1 cm3 and a surface of 6 cm2 – a ratio of 6:1, a cube with a side of 2 cm has a volume of 8 cm3 and a surface of 24 cm2 – a ratio of only 3:1!
Note 2: Initially clear and quite fluid epoxy resins can sometimes thicken (“sugarize” like honey) and lose transparency – this is due to exposure to low temperatures, humidity or time. By carefully heating in hot water (60-70°C) for a few minutes, until the resin becomes clear throughout the entire volume, you will get the resin “like new”, with its original properties. This is the official recommendation of the manufacturer. A quick but slightly risky alternative is to heat the resin in a microwave for 10-15 seconds at 750 W - really no more! Be careful, the resin container must be open to prevent it from splashing out if it is overheated.

The product does not contain substances classified as dangerous according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
