Programmable microprocessor controller for brushless, sensorless AC motors for recreational and sports aircraft models powered by LiPo/Li-ion/LiFe batteries. It uses advanced optimized control technology that significantly improves throttle response and efficiency of power stage control. The controller design emphasizes high long-term load capacity and durability, as required in models with a larger number of servos. The controllers are equipped with a powerful switched power stabilizer BEC that provides power to the receiver and servos from the drive battery. A special LED programming card KAVAN PRO is used for easy controller settings, which is purchased separately.
DESCRIPTION AND FUNCTIONS OF THE CONTROLLER
- The controller is equipped with a high-performance 32-bit ARM M4 microprocessor with a clock frequency of up to 72 MHz; it is compatible with most AC motors.
- Suitable for most aircraft brushless motors powered by 2-4S LiPo/Li-ion/LiFe batteries.
- Microprocessor power supply stabilizer for high immunity to interference and reduced risk of loss of control.
- Optimized control technology significantly improves throttle response and efficiency of power stage control, reduces controller temperature.
- Powerful switching power supply stabilizer BEC with output voltage of 5.2 V and load capacity of 3.5 A continuously and 5 A peak. BEC is separated from other controller circuits, it can maintain proper function even if the power board with MOSFET transistors of the controller is burned. Normal/Soft/Very soft start modes are suitable for normal propeller aircraft and models with blowers.
- Easy programming and adjustment with the help of a transmitter or LED programming card KAVAN PRO.
- A series of protection functions: start-up protection, controller thermal protection, capacitor thermal protection, overload protection, overcurrent protection, abnormal power supply voltage protection and control signal loss protection effectively extend the life of the controller.

PROGRAMMABLE FUNCTIONS
- Brake type: Brake off, normal brake (with braking intensity adjustable in 7 levels).
- Brake force: The braking intensity is adjustable from Level 1 to Level 7 for "Normal brake" mode.
- Motor disconnection method: Soft shutdown: The regulator will gradually reduce power to 50% of full power for 3 seconds after voltage protection is activated.
- Hard shutdown: The engine is immediately shut down.
- Number of LiPo cells: We recommend setting manually for 100% reliable voltage protection function. The controller automatically calculates the number of cells of the connected battery according to the "3.7 V per cell" rule, if you choose automatic detection.
- Voltage protection: The threshold level of voltage protection is adjustable in the range of 2.8-3.8 V/cell; protection can also be turned off completely.
- BEC voltage: The BEC voltage of the power stabilizer is fixed (5.2 V).
- Start: Normal start (instant start), Soft start (with slow start for engines with large propellers, gearbox or smaller blowers), Very soft start (with very slow start for engines with large propellers, gearbox).
- Timing: Adjustable in the range of 0-30 °.
- Direction of rotation: Clockwise/Counterclockwise.
- DEO Freewheel: This feature can be turned on or off; it can bring better linearity or smoother throttle response.
PROTECTIVE FUNCTIONS OF THE REGULATOR
- Start-up protection: The regulator measures the engine speed during start-up. If the revolutions stop increasing or their increase is not stable, the controller evaluates it as a wrong start. If at this moment the throttle is at less than 15%, the regulator will automatically try to restart the engine; if the throttle is at more than 15%, you must pull the throttle all the way down to restart the engine again.
- Thermal protection of the regulator: The motor will "stutter" if the temperature of the regulator exceeds 110°C, thus signaling that the thermal protection has been activated. If at that moment you pull the throttle below 60%, the "stuttering" will disappear and the regulator will deliver power corresponding to the throttle position. If you move the throttle above 60%, the "stuttering" reappears. The temperature of the regulator when switched on must not exceed 70°C, otherwise the engine cannot be started.
- Throttle signal loss protection: The controller immediately shuts down the engine if the signal is missing for 0.25s to prevent even more damage and risk from a rapidly rotating rotor or propeller. As soon as a normal signal is received, the controller will resume normal function.
- Overload protection: The controller shuts down the motor or restarts automatically when its load suddenly increases to a very high value.
- Overcurrent protection: The controller immediately shuts down the motor if the peak current consumption exceeds the maximum allowed value; then resumes normal function. If the current consumption still exceeds the maximum allowed value, the motor is switched off completely.
Tip: When turning on the regulator for the very first time, first calibrate the gas range according to the instructions. Only then can the controller be used and other parameters can be set with the help of the transmitter or the KAVAN PRO LED programming card.
