Product detailed description
Powerful programmable digital low profile 48g servo with a combination of titanium and steel gears and a wide voltage range of 4.8–8.4V, 2xBB, ideal for RWD RC drift cars in 1/10 scale. Thrust 12.0 kg.cm, speed 0.105s/60° at 4.8 V, thrust 14.5 kg.cm, speed 0.09s/60° at 6.0 V, thrust 16.0 kg.cm, speed 0.075s/60° at 7.4 V, thrust 18.0 kg. V. Case with aluminum middle part for good cooling under high load.
With the help of the KAVAN GO USB servo programmer/interface and the PC utility program, you can program a wide range of servo parameters (deflection size, neutral centering, damping, output power, sensitivity, soft start, reverse, etc.). In addition, you will also find the option to enable SANWA SSR and FUTABA SR modes.
Recommendations for adjustment
The basic servo setting is adapted to suit the widest possible range of chassis and electronics. For optimal adjustment, we recommend performing the following procedure:
- Make sure that all related values (trim, end points, double deflections, etc.) on your transmitter and gyro are in the basic setting.
- If using a compatible RC kit, enable SANWA SSR or FUTABA SR mode (must also be enabled in the transmitter).
- Check the direction of the deflections, including the gyro. If necessary, change the parameter Reverse direction of deflections
- Center the steering neutral. Ideally (if your chassis allows it) using a connector between the servo lever and the steering lever. If you do not have this option, center the servo in software using the parameter Servo neutral.
- Set the maximum deflections. The maximum steering wheel rotation to both sides should correspond to the maximum rotation of the chassis wheels. At this angle, the stops should rest slightly on the arms, or the wheels should remain in a position where there is no risk of their contact with any part of the suspension. Adjust by changing the length of the servo arm, or if this is not possible, in software using the Deflection Size parameter.
- Set the Damping parameter to the minimum value necessary to suppress front wheel knocking when driving.
Programmable functions
Drift size: Sets the maximum servo deflection size. The default setting is about 120° for the normal range of control pulse widths (900~2100 µs); about 180° for the maximum allowed range of control pulse widths (500~2500 µs).
Servo neutral: Sets the neutral (center) position of the servo.
Damping: Sets the behavior of the servo when stopping its movement.
Output power: Sets the output power of the servo. The higher the value, the faster the servo is and the higher its thrust - of course, the higher the current consumption will be. Range: 39.2~100%
Sensitivity: Sets the sensitivity (width of the deadband) of the servo. The higher the value, the narrower the deadband - the servo will only move if the change in the control signal width is greater than the deadband width. Setting the sensitivity value too high may cause servo oscillation in some applications. Range: Ultra High (Extra high - deadband approx. 1 µs) - High (High - approx. 2 µs) - Medium (Medium - approx. 3 µs) - Low (Low - approx. 4 µs)
Soft start: Turns on/off the soft start function. This function prevents the servo from suddenly running into the operating position after powering it on, thus limiting the risk of damage to its gears.
Reverse the sense of deflections: Reverses the sense of the servo deflections.
FUTABA SR mode: Only for use with FUTABA RC channels operating in SR mode. Do not turn this option on if you are using a different FUTABA RC set or an RC set of any other brand.
SANWA SSR Mode: Only for use with SANWA RC channels operating in SSR mode. Do not enable this option if you are using a different SANWA RC set or any other brand of RC set.
Fail-safe emergency deflections: In the event of a complete loss of control signal from the receiver or if the servo cannot detect the signal correctly (e.g. due to interference), the servo can enter one of three emergency modes:
(a) Free: Fail-safe is disabled.
(b) Position hold: the servo maintains the position corresponding to the last correctly received signal.
(c) Neutral return: The servo returns to the neutral (pulse width 1500 µs) position.
Overload protection: Enables or disables the servo overload protection in three levels - once the overload lasts for a preset time (in seconds), the servo output power is limited to the corresponding preset value (in % of max. power).
Reset: Restores the connected servo to factory default settings.
Extended supply voltage 4.8-7.4V (nominal); operating voltage range 4.8-8.4V.
