Product detailed description

Semi-metal remote-controlled excavator model on a tracked chassis.

This excavator with a semi-metal construction in 1/14 scale has all the functions of a real machine. A large part of the model is made of metal. The parts of the arm, bucket, chassis, tracks and all important parts are metal. The body is plastic. The arm, bucket, rotating body and each track are separately controllable. The model also has a built-in sound and smoke generator. The body can be rotated 360°! This high-quality, scaled-down excavator model conveniently bridges the gap between toy plastic excavator models and top-of-the-line all-metal high-performance models with a high price. In total, 23 movements and functions can be controlled on this excavator model. So the model is very similar to the original. The ability to work in real terrain together with protection of the electronics against splashing water will ensure genuine fun. The model also comes with a demolition hammer and a tree trunk lifting arm, so the model can be rebuilt in a few simple steps to perform a different task. All transmission parts in the model are made of metal and the model also has powerful servo motors that easily handle even heavy loads! The quality and functionality of this model in relation to its price are unique to date.

Our test: The original manufacturer is Huina. The model is packed in a quality box with a polystyrene bed for the model and transmitter. It is excellent for transporting the model, but it is sometimes more difficult to fit the model into the cutouts. The model itself is almost all-metal. All essential parts of the structure are metal. The manufacturer's designation "Full Metal" is misleading, because the model is not really all-metal. The body parts are plastic, and less essential parts. Important parts of the structure, mechanisms, bucket and arm are metal. The high proportion of metal parts ensures the weight of the model at 5 kg. This is important for the good functionality of the model if we really want to load clay or sand. If you want to scoop up a spoonful of clay, the excavator must have sufficient weight and its tracks must have good contact with the ground. The model is controlled by a system of electromechanical drives imitating hydraulics. It has reasonably slow, even movements, and the overall appearance of the model is very good. The built-in sound module makes a relatively quiet sound, I wouldn't call it realistic. But it's bearable. The smoke module produces a strip of white smoke, which is unrealistic and adds nothing to the model. On the model I tested, the smoke module quickly broke down. All you have to do is pour smoke liquid into it and let it run empty. The filament burns out. I think it's better to remove the smoke module and use the freed space for a larger flashlight. Personally, I'm missing a driver's figure in the cabin, which can be fixed by purchasing, for example, a Tamiya or Bruder figure. But here we run into a problem. The 1/14 scale declared by the manufacturer is not entirely true. The model is smaller, more like 1/18 scale. That wouldn't be a problem, because real excavators are bigger and smaller too. However, you can't fit even a Bruder figure in the cabin. The modeling solution is to make the cabin bigger, but that's up to the skill of each modeler.
The model itself passed a stress test during several exhibitions, where I loaded clay onto dump truck models with it for several days. The model worked for about 40 minutes on one charge, which was a very good time (Li-Ion battery 2000mAh). The actual scooping of clay and loading onto the car was realistic, well-functioning. The only drawback of the model seems to be the slightly short arm, so it was more difficult to load over the edge of the taller models if they were on the same level with the excavator. Just place the excavator on a raised spot on the terrain and load from above. The model has been in service without any problems (except for the broken smoke module) for several months now. Once it happened that the rubber band covering the end switch of the arm's extreme position got stuck in the arm joint and the switch was permanently stuck. It required a little careful effort to release the rubber band and everything was OK. In my opinion, this is a successful model at a price appropriate to the quality and features of the product. I can only recommend it. Jozef Anďal
