Sanyo Eneloop batteries are characterized by an extremely low self-discharge value and are therefore particularly suitable for use in RC transmitters, receivers, various types of home electronics, cameras and other devices with low discharge current and the need for long-term durability in the off state. This battery is suitable for all common types of RC model cars, tanks and boats with a smaller engine (up to size 380 - 400) and suitable gearing.

  • Never leave the model unattended when the battery is connected. In the event of a fault, the model or its surroundings could catch fire.
  • Only use chargers specifically designed for NiMH batteries and do not leave batteries unattended while charging.
  • Do not use NiMH batteries in airtight models and limit the battery's contact with water.
  • Protect the battery from short circuits, overcharging and reverse polarity. This could lead to fire or explosion.
  • Never open the battery cells, lithium is a highly reactive metal and reacts with air and water.
  • Long-term discharge below 1V per cell is harmful to the battery and reduces its capacity.

Discharge
Sanyo Eneloop batteries are characterized by an extremely low self-discharge rate. They last a very long time in standby mode, ready for immediate use. They retain the possibility of repeated charging (up to 500 times) and the ability to deliver a large discharge current. They can be discharged down to -20oC. They are delivered in a charged state, ready for immediate use after unpacking.

Good advice: The mains adapters that are usually included with finished models are only used for occasional amateur charging. For high-quality frequent charging of batteries, it is best to buy a charger with programmable charging parameters. This will extend the life of the batteries and save you money.

Charging
If possible, always discharge the battery completely before charging. For charging, we generally recommend a charging current in the range from 0.1 to 1C (1C = capacity value, for example 3000mAh capacity = 3A = 1C charging current maximum!).
Only use chargers designed for charging NiMH batteries (or a programmable or universal charger).
If you are using a charger with temperature control, charge the cell to a maximum temperature of 45C.
After charging, the battery may be hot to the touch. Always charge the battery all the way to the end.

Example of calculating charging time: If you are using a simple charging adapter (transformer), calculate the approximate charging time by dividing the battery capacity (for example, 2000 mAh) by the output power of the charging adapter (listed on the adapter's nameplate, for example: Output 350 mA), and the resulting number is the charging time for a completely discharged battery. Example: 2000 : 350 = 5.7 hours. A less discharged battery will charge faster. If the battery is not completely discharged after use, charging will take different amounts of time.

Storage
If you will not be using the battery for several weeks, it must not be stored in an uncharged state. In general, it can be said that storing a discharged NiMH battery for a longer period is harmful to it. We recommend that you always store the battery at least partially charged. Before storing, charge the discharged battery with a current of 1C for 15 minutes. You can then store it without any problems for several weeks. If you want to reuse a battery that has been stored for a longer period, discharge it with a current of 10A to a voltage of 5.4V. After it has cooled down, you can charge it and use it normally. We recommend that you check the stored battery at least once a month.

Disposal
Do not throw the battery in the municipal waste at the end of its service life, but hand it in at a collection point for used batteries.

Battery life
Depends on the way it is used, discharged, charged and stored. The ambient temperature, possible overheating or undercooling of the battery also have an effect. Usually, the service life is calculated based on the number of charging cycles of 30 - 50 and not on time. The service life can be significantly shorter than 2 years. As the number of cycles increases, the "performance" of the battery will begin to decrease, which means that you will drive for shorter periods. While it will show a charged capacity when charging, the performance will be low.

The battery is a consumable product. Only manufacturing defects are covered by the warranty (if any, they usually become apparent immediately upon first use). Decreasing capacity or generally deteriorated properties caused by use or long-term storage are not covered by the warranty.
